4D crashes on MacBook Pro using OS X 10.12.2 (Sierra)

Issue:

4D / Synergist crashes as soon as you try to connect to Synergist, or click on the custom tab of the server selection dialog

Error message:

None, just an OS X crash report

Cause:

Changes in OS X 10.12.2 to support the MacBook Pro touchbar

Resolution:

You need to go through the motions of opening a local database rather than connecting to 4D Server.

If the welcome wizard is displayed during your normal login process choose "Open a local database" rather than "Connect to 4D Server"

If the Welcome Wizard is not displayed choose File > Open > Local Database:

Both these actions will open a new Finder window asking you to select the local database to open.  You do not need to actually open a local database, displaying this window is all that is required.  Cancel the Finder window and you will be able to log into Synergist normally.

It has also been reported that closing the welcome wizard window before choosing File > Open > Remote Database can allow older MacBooks (without touchbar) to connect without crashing.
