Access to Synergist over the network is slow. What can I do to improve performance?

Issue:

Synergist is performing slowly and at an unmanageable speed

Resolution:

There are a number of different factors that contribute to the performance of Synergist over the network. The first points to check are:

  • Is the only application being served on the network server? Synergist Server functions better if it is on a dedicated server
  • The speed of the networking cards on the workstations and the server. Higher speed cards provide better performance
  • Is your network wired or wireless, or a mixture? A crowded wireless network will degrade performance, due to the nature of the technology

If answer none of the above questions highlight a possible cause, please email the helpdesk outlining answers to the following questions:

  • Is it just one desk that is seeing a performance issue, or is everybody experiencing slow performance?
  • Does performance change when performing a specific task in Synergist, but is acceptable at other times?
  • Does performance seem to change according to time of day/month?
  • Has there been a hardware/software/OS change on the server?
  • Has performance changed after a Synergist update?
